Algebra 1 Quadratic Extra Credit
1. Find a picture or an object that makes a parabolic shape (i.e. the St. Louis Arch, McDonald’s arches, etc.)
2. Get the actual dimensions (or approximations) of that object.
3. Either trace the object on a graph, or overlay a graph on a picture of the object
4. Find the following: axis of symmetry, vertex, maximum or minimum, discriminant, how many roots, value of the roots, domain, and range.
5. Place all of this information on a poster board, including the picture & graph set up of your object.
6. Due: Friday, 6/3/11
